Its just for idea!!!!!!!

Don’t submit it

Questions:
 1. In the above scenario which negotiation perspective has been used (distributive/ integrative)? Give logical reasons to support your answer. (5 marks)
Answer:
In this case the bargaining is distributive because in this bargaining one’s tactics focus on trying to get one’s opponent to agree to one’s specific target point or to get as close to it as possible. As you see the CEO of the company did the same thing, the CEO of that company decided to decrease the average salary from 3 million per year to 2.2 million per year which is almost 28 percent decrease. In this case CEO focus on trying to get his opponent to agree on specific target (28% decrease in salary) and in the last he offer them 27% and bring them on no win situation. Distributive bargaining leaves one party a loser. It tends to build animosities and deepens divisions

 2. What factors do you believe lead to the lack of settlement in the negotiation of New Horizons? (5 marks)
 Answer:
In this case the negotiation should be better if both parties are open with information and sincere about the conflict, understanding that if they unbending on there point of conflicts the lost of the company and the labors. They should trust one another and enthusiasm to maintain flexibility in negotiation.
Determine CEO and the LABORS side’s Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement is (BATNA) if BATNA determines the lowest value acceptable to CEO/LABORS for disgreement. Any offer you receive that is higher than your BATNA is better than an impasse

MGT 502 GDB

Solution:

In scenario 01 Mr. Iftakhar exhibited the “Coercive power”.

In Scenario 02 Mr. Khalid exhibited the “Expert Power”.

Dear fellows here is my solution ....many students disagree with this, so i explaining it as under....
plzz read it carefully....and give ur feedback

Thanks!

Coercive power is the opposite of reward power. It is the ability of the power holder to remove something from a person or to punish them for not conforming with a request.
For example:
Coercive power could take the form of a threatened strike action by a labour union; the threat of preventing promotion or transfer of a subordinate for poor performance; it could be a threat of litigation; it could be at threat of non-payment; it could be the threat to go public; and it could even be a threat of physical injury.
All of these practices have one vital element in common - the element of fear. The fear that these threats will be used is called coercive power.

ager simple words main boly to aaty hi Mr iftakhar nay 13 employees ko fired kr dia means apni badshahat ka use kia ...or employee side pr dekha jay to sub emploees khofzada to hain na k Mr.iftakhar kuch bi kr saktay hain ....

so thats the resaon that i go with coersive power.

Expert power:
Expert power is essential because as a leader, your team looks to you for direction and guidance. Team members need to believe in your ability to lead in a worthwhile direction, give sound guidance, and co-ordinate a good result.
If members of your team see you as a true expert, they will be much more receptive when you try to persuade them to do something, and when you want to inspire them to make more of an effort.
And if they see you as an expert, you'll find it much easier to motivate them:
If team members respect your expertise, they'll trust you to show them how to work effectively.
If team members respect your judgment, they'll trust you to guide their efforts in such a way that you'll make the most of their hard work.
If they can see your expertise, they'll believe that you have the wisdom to direct their efforts towards a goal that is genuinely worthwhile.
Taken together, if your team sees you as an expert, you'll find it much easier to motivate your people to perform at their best.

The first reason is the managers and employees are believe on the abilities like (admirable qualities of industriousness, humility and deep personal commitment to his clients) the second reason is also respect his abilities and being motivated because of their trust on Mr.Khalid.

Charismatic power:
The word "charisma" is from the Greek, and means "divine power." A leader with charisma exercises something like divine powers over his or her followers. This is power based upon the ability to charm, to persuade, to hypnotize people solely with the power of personality. The charismatic leader may have no authority based upon anything except the ability to persuade and charm. The charismatic leader might not have any other leadership skills, for example, the ability to organize, the ability to implement good ideas, or even ethics. Charisma is valuable because a charismatic leader with other leadership skills can often be an effective leader, but it is also dangerous because a leader with no other leadership skills finds it easy to persuade followers to act in ways that are not beneficial.

With a charismatic power it is possible that a leader is just a charming personality, may not have authority, lack of skills, and may be dangerous to employees corporate funds investment. I think its may be just a “Hero” nothing else. But Mr.kahlid is the owner of many abilities
